Action AlertThe Environmental Protection Agency is holding hearings and taking comments on regulating coal ash waste - the toxic substances that remain after coal is burned and is often stored in waste ponds.

This can be a game changer on coal. We're making it a big deal - because it is!

Actions You Can Take:

1. Help us call people to get on the bus to the hearing
2. Join us on the bus to Chicago on Thursday, September 16

Madison Recycling Away from Home
Willy Street Fair Saturday - Sunday, September 25 - 26

Madison RAH is an arm of the Four Lakes Group Sierra Club, working in conjunction with neighborhood groups and local volunteers to address waste reduction at our local city festivals.  By managing trash and recycling facilities for the weekend, we have diverted literally tons of material from the landfill, by giving people the option - the option to recycle!  And most people will take it, if we make it easy.

So RAH volunteers ensure that there are adequate, well-marked recycling bins available throughout the festival grounds, and keep them changed out as needed.  Shifts run about 3 hours, and it's all handled via "management by walking around".  You can enjoy the festival, watch some bands, check out some booths and have a great time!   The Sierra Club also has an informational table there throughout the weekend, so you have a place to hang out when you're not wandering.  So pick a shift, get involved, and RAH RAH RAH!  Visit www.madisonrah.org for shift times and contact Lacinda Athen at lacinda.athen@gmail.com or 608-274-7870 to volunteer.
