What
is the Four Lakes Group?
The Four Lakes Group is your local branch of the Sierra
Club.
We are an all volunteer organization dedicated to environmental
education and conservation. We
are one of nine Groups in the Wisconsin John Muir Chapter.

The Four Lakes
Group area includes over 4,500 members in the counties of
Dane, Sauk, Columbia, Juneau, Adams, Richland, Iowa, Grant,
Rock, Green, Crawford, Jefferson, Lafayette and the city of
Whitewater in Walworth County. If you are not in our area,
see the Wisconsin state John
Muir Chapter web site to find the Group that represents
you.
What
does the Four Lakes Group do?
We have an active conservation agenda within our Group that
concentrate on a range of environmental concerns like water
quality, recycling, sprawl reduction, transportation, smart
growth and public lands. Our two primary campaigns
are "Moving Beyond Coal" and "Recycling Away
from Home". We
are also active in local elections, since one of our best
hopes for long term gains is building a strong legislative
base to protect our environment.
However, the Sierra
Club, as a whole, is well aware of the dangers of "all
work and no play" so we are very active in group activities
such as hikes, biking events, camping trips, water sports,
group meetings and potlucks. See our Outings
Calender to see what fun we have!!
In addition to
our Group work, we also help sponsor both the Sierra
Student Coalition on the UW Madison campus, and our urban
outreach program - Madison
Inner City Outings.

Also,
the Group offers a free public monthly educational program
that also serves as our member meeting. See our Program
Calendar for the listing of speakers & topics. We
hope to see you there!
